DANCER

PORTRAITS

stunning. fierce. unique.

Our Dancer Portrait sessions are a chance for you to get concentrated one-on-one attention to show off your love of dance through photos. During your hour-long experience with us, we will guide you through poses and actions that highlight your strengths as a dancer and also make sure you get in-depth technique coaching throughout the whole session. But! We also want to showcase that beautiful personality of yours! There are so many things that make you beautiful, inside and out. We can’t wait for the chance to show the world just how great (unique, fierce, strong, and frankly, amazing) YOU are!

Pre-photog life, I (Julie) was a ballet teacher for 20 years as well as a professional dancer for a short time. Helping dancers become better at what they love is my LIFE! There are few things that give me more joy than seeing a dancer nail a movement or pose and that ‘ah-ha’ moment where their head and their body come together and totally GET IT. Seriously, there’s nothing better! Add in my sheer joy at creating beautiful images with my camera and BAM! My two biggest creative loves coming together.

So, with all that dancing, y’all know what that means… Mike gained lots of photography-in-action opportunities throughout the years ? Add in his freaking killer skills at composition and you’ve got the makings of some great dance photos. All we need now is your beautiful talent and heart for dance in front of our cameras!

What is a dance session with MIKE + JULIE like?

We’ll spend about an hour together at the Kansas City metro location of your choice. First and foremost, we’ll help you choose a location that has great lighting and interesting environments. You’ll spend your time with us working through your favorite poses, tricks, and choreography (or improv!) all while having a stress-free FUN time. We will be providing in-depth technique coaching and tweaking every step of the way. Our goal is for this session to be a collaboration of your favorite things about dance and our eye for capturing it artfully!

Can I get studio portraits?

Well, you can, just not with us… 😉 Studio work is great and all, don’t get us wrong. We just like the freedom of a real environment more. It’s actually an important element in what makes our style look the way it does.

How do I book/reserve my session?

Your session date is reserved once your portrait contract is signed and your session fee is paid.

Do you offer digitals?

Yep, we sure do. You can purchase one individual file, a bundle, or the whole kit and caboodle! But, that digital file sure won’t look as nice on your walls as a big, beautiful canvas though 😉

When is the best time for my session?

Our favorite time of day to shoot is during the evening a few hours before sunset. It’s hands-down the most flattering light of the day!

I have no idea where to have my session, help!

Breathe!! It’s okay! If you don’t have any specific inspiration for your location we are loaded with ideas. We got you.

What if the weather is bad on the day of my session?

Since we live in the land of weather being persnickety, it’s a very good time to talk about our inclement weather procedure. If the forecast calls for poor shooting conditions (rain/strong winds/snow/excessive heat), we will contact you the night before your session and see if it’s possible to make a call at that time. Often though, it’s a matter of waiting until those last few hours prior to really know whether a reschedule is needed. If that’s the case, we will call you 3 hours prior to let you know our thoughts. If we postpone, no worries! We’ll compare calendars and come up with a date that works for both of us.

What if I am late to my session?

Tsk tsk tsk… nah, we’re just kidding-it’s not a problem! We try not to book sessions back to back in case things happen, but often it’s a matter of running out of light. No light=no pictures. It’s just that simple. For that reason, if you are more than 20 minutes late we will automatically reschedule.

What happens after the session?

Once your session is over, the agonizing wait begins! Once your images are ready, you’ll cozy up in your favorite spot at home for your ordering session, via Zoom. This is when you’ll see your images for the first time (you’ll already be acquainted with all of your yummy product options), and place your order. PLUS…. we promise to help you every step of the way to prepare for your ordering session, no worries.

What if I have to reschedule?

Payment of your session fee reserves that day and time for you, and only you. So, when you can’t make it, no one else gets that spot either. But… we totally understand that life happens. You get one complimentary reschedule for any reason. After that, if you still need to reschedule there is a $75 rescheduling fee.

How many outfits can I wear at my session?

We recommend a minimum of two outfits, and we welcome up to 4!
