We’ll spend about an hour together at the Kansas City metro location of your choice. First and foremost, we’ll help you choose a location that has great lighting and interesting environments. You’ll spend your time with us laughing, playing a few games, having a stress-free FUN time. We WILL ask you to smile for the camera, but we’ll do it with style and hopefully a bit of entertainment (which is code for Mike will make odd sounds and jump over Julie’s head-true story). We do a mix of posing and interacting shots. Don’t expect it to be a ‘smiling at the camera the whole time’ type of session. We firmly believe it’s important to capture not only what you all look like at this moment in time, but how you feel about each other.

Well, you can, just not with us… 😉 Studio work is great and all, don’t get us wrong. We just like the freedom of a real environment more. It’s actually an important element in what makes our style look the way it does.

Your session date is reserved once your contract is signed and your session fee is paid.

Yep, we sure do. All Headshot sessions have some quantity of digital files included. 

Payment of your session fee reserves that day and time for you, and only you. So, when you can’t make it, no one else gets that spot either. But… we totally understand that life happens. You get one complimentary reschedule for any reason. After that, if you still need to reschedule there is a $75 rescheduling fee.

Breathe!! It’s okay! We know you want to find the location that’s perfect for YOU, which is different for each client. We’ll work with you to find out what your style is like or the vibe you want the headshot to have and make suggestions. We got you. But! We firmly believe that you don’t need that perfect location in order to have incredible photos. People trump location, every time. Great connections between a person and the camera can happen anywhere 🙂

Since we live in the land of weather being persnickety, it’s a very good time to talk about our inclement weather procedure. If the forecast calls for poor shooting conditions (rain/strong winds/snow/excessive heat), we will contact you the night before your session and see if it’s possible to make a call at that time. Often though, it’s a matter of waiting until those last few hours prior to really know whether a reschedule is needed. If that’s the case, we will call you 3 hours prior to let you know our thoughts. If we postpone, no worries! We’ll compare calendars and come up with a date that works for both of us.

Aaaaabsolutely, we can! We even made a whole blog post about it, check it out here: WHAT TO WEAR to my fabulous session with MIKE + JULIE.  But, our biggest concern is that you choose clothing that you feel GREAT in. When you feel good, it shows.

Tsk tsk tsk… nah, we’re just kidding-it’s not a problem! We try not to book sessions back to back in case things happen, but often it’s a matter of running out of light. No light=no pictures. It’s just that simple. For that reason, if you are more than 20 minutes late we will automatically reschedule.

DON’T worry if your kiddos don’t want to smile. As much as you want your kiddo to be a perfect angel during the session, let yourself off the hook if it doesn’t happen. This is where we work our MIKE + JULIE magic 😉 It takes some kiddos a little longer to warm up to new people than others. We are pretty good at detecting that and turning things around. We never want you to push them, or force them to smile. It’s just not how we roll. Part of choosing a session with MIKE + JULIE means trusting our process. For us, that process looks like getting in there and just playing with your kiddos. It’s MORE about the experience than it is about the perfect pose.

Once your session is over, the agonizing wait begins! Then, you’ll cozy up in your favorite spot from the convenience of your home for your guided ordering session via Zoom. This is when you’ll see your images for the first time (you’ll already be acquainted with all of your yummy product options), and place your product order. PLUS… we promise to help you every step of the way to prepare for your ordering session, no worries.
