I just don’t even know where to start. David and Kate’s urban Kansas City wedding was da bomb.
Unique. Beautiful. Breathtaking.
First of all, if you didn’t get a chance to see their engagement session, you HAVE to stop there first. David and Kate had the best attitude walking into all of this. They love each other and just wanted to have fun on their wedding day. Well guys, that is exactly what you got and then some!
As I look through just the 122 of our favorites (and that was narrowing it down some, let me tell ya) I see so much happiness. Their day had so much life and character to it. You’ll see. It only takes a few seconds of looking through their images to see how loved David and Kate are by their family and friends. It’s not that their wedding day didn’t have its own bumps in the road either. Notice all the parking garage pics (how COOL that they let us go to a parking garage!) and umbrellas? Yeah…. it’s just been that kinda summer. With Kate’s gawgeous wedding dress being made of silk, we needed to keep a single drop from hitting her. Luckily, we were able to do their first look in their #1 favorite spot in Kansas City before any rain fell. WAIT!!! I haven’t told you the meaning behind that yet, have I??? Where are my manners?
This here, is the COOLEST wedding proposal EVAH!!! David had a full night planned for Sunday, September 29th. He told Kate to keep the evening open and wear shoes she could walk a half a mile in. This helped her figure out that they were heading to Westport, but she had no idea what else the evening would hold. As they left the house, David pulled a rose from a hiding spot in the porch and handed it to Kate. They walked to Westport and had a couple drinks at Harry’s Bar and Tables, their favorite outdoor patio in town and on Kate’s favorite street in town. While they were enjoying their Moscow Mule and Old Tom Collins, a couple of Westport police started to mill around. Kate chalked it up to being a typical day in Westport. Once it was 6:00, David told Kate it was time to head on to next event. They headed back inside, then out onto Pennsylvania. Just as they approached the alley next to the cigar store, David grabbed Kate’s hand and started dancing with her (which is one of their favorite past times). She was surprised and said, “What are you doing?” David pointed to a women singing and a man playing the guitar and said, “They’re playing your favorite song.” Kate hadn’t realized the couple was playing “Sittin on the dock of the bay” and hadn’t noticed that the policemen milling around were actually blocking off the alley and part of the street so they could dance. David went down on one knee at the end of the song and popped the question.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! David, way to go dude! So we knew their first look had to be there and they HAD to dance. It was pretty dang cool. As was everything in their day. So thank you guys, for including us in such a momentous occasion. And thank you to everyone who has stopped by the blog to see their images and hear their story.
Blessings~MIKE + JULIE
