Family Photos Should Be Fun!
Picture this… a family loads into their car to head home after an evening out. There’s no complaining. There’s no bickering. In fact, no one is even cranky. Everyone is actually giggling over which parts of the last hour were their favorite.
Would you have guessed this family just finished having pictures taken? “No way. That’s just not a thing, Mike and Julie.”
Oh, but it is, my friend. We want you to know that family pictures
FAMILY PICTURES SHOULD ACTUALLY BE FUN
And if you’re not having fun when you get your pictures taken (yes, dad included), it’s time to change that.
What is the point if a picture “APPEARS” to look perfect but every time you look at it, it just takes you back to the moment it was taken, remembering how grumpy everyone was? What if you could trade that feeling for one of sheer joy every time you looked at an image? Like… that’s way better, right? Who wouldn’t want a picture that looks great but also reminds you of how happy you were?
We hope to hear you say “yes,” because these years are flying by and all your people are changing every dang day. There’s never a better time than right now to freeze what you love about your people. Your future self will be so grateful to have images to look back on. But not just any images, REAL images.
Don’t miss this. We’re not talking about years and years of pictures of everyone in their uncomfortable clothes, posed just a bit awkwardly, not quite smiling for real. And you know those aren’t their real smiles, cuz mamas ALWAYS know what the REAL smiles look like. No, we’re talking about the real stuff, the way your little boy still snuggles with you (and your mama’s heart knows your years are numbered on this sweet activity). The expressions of pure childhood joy that your children show when they play together. The way your little girl is turning into a young lady right before your very eyes, but you can still see the bits of childhood in her that disappear a bit more each day. THESE are the things that urgently need capturing.
But… They’ll never be captured if there is no fun while the camera is out.
Mom, you want those “good” smiles from your kiddos? Well, as photographers, we’re here to tell ya good smiles happen when people are actually having fun. That’s the whole reason we do everything the way we do. Our #1 goal is to make sure everyone who steps in front of our camera feels at ease and confident that pictures will go well. Then, that’s when we kick it up a notch and make darn sure everyone is having F-U-N!
It makes our hearts swell every time we hear from mamas letting us know that on the way home from a session, their kids talked about how much fun they had and asked when the next time they get to play with Mike + Julie is.
