There are times when you realize you have to raise the white flag in defeat. This is one of those times for us, and truthfully, we’re okay with it. The defeat we need to admit in this case is that Dave and Di are simply cooler than we are. I know, I know… you gasp at the prospect of someone being cooler than Mike and Julie, it’s simply not possible! <snort> Alas, these two are EXACTLY how great we aspire to be someday. A power couple, if you will. Ater all, it takes a lifetime to really refine your ‘coolness,’ and Dave and Di have mastered theirs.

They first reached out to us in hopes someone could take portraits of them for their 50th wedding anniversary. Once we finished that first phone call, we knew Dave and Di were our kinda peeps and it only got better each time we hung out with them. Of course, we love their portraits, but we really love their story. 

What does their story look like at 50 years? These days, it’s lots of traveling around our grand Country, sharing a lifetime of stories, and some really fun rituals that have become important to them. Each item they’ve taken the care to display in their home has a story behind it. It was incredible to hear some of where their path in life has taken them. Plus, each afternoon Dave and Di grab themselves a toddy and bust out their set of antique dominoes for a fierce competition. They are lighting fast at this too! It was very cool watching the game go down and listening to them razz each other. How cool that this small part of their day means enough to have it documented. This just goes to show that it’s not just the big things in life that need capturing. The small things mean more sometimes! We’re grateful for the chance to give them physical copies of their memories to look back on every day.

It’s no coincidence that we’ve shared their story with you today. 50 years ago today these two tied the knot and made it official. How freakin amazing is it to get to document the flip side of wedding photography! Yes, weddings are important, but it’s what you do with your life after that one day that truly matters.
