The “One-on-One, Live-Streaming, Stay in Your Pajamas” Camera Class
DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?
You finally got that DSLR camera you’d been wanting for so long. You were finally ready to capture all those fun moments with your kids. Now, you were gonna be the mom who took her own fabulous family vacation photos and captured it ALL. You were super eager and started taking the camera with you everywhere you went. But then… you looked down at the camera and your eyes glazed over looking at so. many. settings… So, you safely found yourself choosing the Auto setting. In fact, you’re still there today. No judgment from us. The picture you take is ALWAYS better than the one you don’t. Auto or not.
You don’t LOVE the Auto setting because the photos you’re getting now just don’t look amazing like you thought they would. Maybe they looked bland, pics of your kiddos playing still come out blurry (shouldn’t Auto prevent that??), and why aren’t you able to get the background blurry or fuzzy like the other images you have seen and loved? Come on Auto, help a girl out! So, you venture away from that Auto function and try some other settings out. But… your images are too dark or too bright. The pics of your kiddos running around are REALLY blurry now. So you give up. That camera you saved up for is now collecting dust. In fact, you’re not sure where it actually is.
If this sounds remotely like you… we’re here to help.
Hi ya! We’re MIKE + JULIE, professional photographers who’ve been documenting the lives of others for about 11 years now. We started out just like y’all… overwhelmed at all those mysterious settings on our fancy new cameras, not knowing where to start. We’ve been where you’re at and come out the other side, rocking the Manual setting and loving the freedom it gives us to take the kinds of pictures we love to take. We’ve done all the hard work to help you fast-track your learning!
Earlier this year we began offering our ‘Get Out of Auto’ beginner camera class at our studio in Westport… and then March of 2020 hit. C’mon… you know what we’re talking about. The toilet paper crisis… the time when sneezing in public no longer got you a “God bless you,” but rather, the evil eye.
Since gathering folks in our studio is not an option for the moment, we wanted to figure out how we could still offer this great class for people who are ready to learn their DSLR cameras and figure out what all those other mysterious modes are. Other than Auto mode, of course.
What we came up with was the exact same class… Well, the same class, but with one huge beneficial change… live-streamed straight to you, online. The bad news… no in-person hugs or high fives. The good news… the class is now ONE-ON-ONE… technically, one-on-two if Mike chooses to wear pants during this stay-at-home social distancing thing and we let him online.
Introducing…
THE “ONE-on-ONE, LIVE-STREAMING, STAY IN YOUR PAJAMAS” CAMERA CLASS
This is a great class for anyone who wants to take higher quality and more compelling photos of their kiddos and families! We’re super excited about this one-on-one format for so many reasons, but the biggest is we can now dedicate the entire class time to each student/you personally. Don’t miss this! This means is we can pace and customize your class based on where you’re at in your photography journey, spending more where you feel you need more coaching and less time with the topics you’re already nailing! Basically, a class structure built fully around you.
During your live online class, we’ll be walking you through three main teaching points… each building off the other.
TECHNICAL – ARTISTIC – EMOTIONAL
Over the next few posts, we’ll be diving into what each section is all about. But, since we’ve got ya right now, wanna know what else you get along with your mad new camera skills?
After attending your one-on-one class you’ll automatically be enrolled in our follow up email learning series for F-R-E-E: Emotional Storytelling in Your Images!
You’ll also have permanent access to us via our Facebook Photo Class Community group. Once in the group, you will be able to chat and learn from other class attendees as well as always be able to get continued help from us in your growth. There will be fun assignments to practice your skills and post your results along with others in the group.
That’s it for today. Thanks for reading this far and check back soon!
